What tasks can I automate, delegate and outsource?
Every business out there has aimed - in one way or another - to get ahead of its competitor. In order to do this, you need to become more efficient. If your business doesn't meet current trends or changes, then it won't succeed in the market.
As a small business owner, you should have core assets like cash, man-power and access to products/services etc. We need to be more aware on how often these assets are delivering maximum efficiency for your business. So how does automation, delegation and outsourcing come into play? As a sole trader, or an owner of a SME, we tend to have to do more in our day to help build up the business. However in most cases, when we have built up the business to a point where you have the capability to hire new staff, we still tend to hang onto 'lower value' tasks as we think it will be cheaper than employing someone to do it for us.
There is no doubt that everyone has an aim to automate the business process as much as possible so that they're able to increase their productivity. Whether it is templating invoices, emails, or setting up automatic responses when someone makes an enquiry on your website/facebook page, we need to look at automating whatever we can. There might be an initial cost to implement automated processes, however you will save both time and money in the long run.
Outsourcing is one of the best ways to make a business more efficient. By doing this, a business can get more done in less time without spending lots of time, money or energy. Every business has limitedresources and every manager has limited time and attention. Outsourcing can help businesse shift its focus from 'lower value' tasks to growing and driving the business.
So where do you begin? Download the template below to begin mapping out all your tasks, then take a step back and think about what lower value tasks you can delegate or outsouce and processes you can automate so you can focuss on growing your business.
