Investing In Yourself
Part 2: Meditation
Throughout the past couple of years, meditation has grown from an 'of-the-moment' trend to a legitimate health craze. What is meditation? Meditation often gets mistaken as a sort of 'feeling' or a sense of 'getting somewhere,' however it is allowing yourself to be where you already are and letting the mind be as it is.
In the way that athletes approach training their bodies, meditation is an approach in training our minds. Our brains are continuously processing information it's receiving from our eyes, ears and sensory organs and connecting this to our memory for identification. Our minds have the ability to bend and change direction at our own will, however it will steer itself unless we learn to take control.
As you focus during meditation, your mind finds a quiet place where you are able to concentrate and control the direction of your thought process. Not only does it help provide you with that control, it will also help you focus on solutions, remaining positive and the accomplishment of your goals.
We spoke previously about visualisation and the affect that this can have on achieving our goals. When we take the time to meditate and visualise the goals that we have for ourselves. The more we can see the possibility of achieving it, the more we are motivated to go out and pursue it.
